Using the Public Content Bank
Reading time: 4minThe Public Content Bank is a shared library where Nubric users can discover quizzes published by other educators. It allows users to browse community-created materials, preview their content, and save quizzes for their own use.
Unlike the Organization Content Bank, quizzes in the Public Content Bank are available to the wider Nubric community rather than being restricted to members of a specific organization.
What It Is
The Public Content Bank is a shared space for quizzes that Nubric users have chosen to make publicly available. It helps educators discover teaching materials, reuse others' resources, and find inspiration for their own quizzes. Users can:
- Browse public quizzes created by other educators.
- Search quizzes by keyword.
- Filter quizzes by language.
- Preview quizzes before saving them.
- Save quizzes to their personal workspace.
- Publish their own quizzes for the Nubric community.
The Public Content Bank appears as Public within the general Content Bank page.

Why It Matters
Creating high-quality quizzes can take time, especially when questions include formulas, structured answers, or randomization.
The Public Content Bank allows educators to reuse community-created resources instead of designing every quiz from scratch. Users can explore how other educators approach a topic, save useful materials, and adapt independent copies to their teaching needs.
This encourages collaboration across the Nubric community and helps educators build a collection of reusable materials.
How It Works
Stage 1: Opening the Public Content Bank
Open Content Bank from the Nubric navigation menu, and then select Public. The Public option displays quizzes shared with the wider Nubric community.
If you belong to a premium organization, you can also select My center to access quizzes shared privately within your active organization.
Stage 2: Browsing and finding quizzes
Browse the available quizzes or use the search and filtering tools to find relevant materials. Each quiz entry provides information such as:
- Quiz title.
- Number of questions.
- Total score.
- Author's name.
- Publication date.
- Language.
- Sharing location.
Use the keyword search to find quizzes related to a particular topic. You can also open the filters to narrow the results by language.

If no quizzes match the search or selected filters, Nubric displays an informative empty state.

Stage 3: Previewing a quiz
Select a quiz to preview its questions and content before saving it. Previewing allows you to assess whether the quiz is suitable for your teaching needs without adding it to your workspace.

Stage 4: Saving a quiz
When you find a quiz you want to reuse, select Save. Nubric adds the quiz to the Saved Quizzes section of My Quizzes. The button changes to Saved, and a confirmation message indicates that the quiz has been saved successfully.
Saving a quiz does not make the shared quiz directly editable. To adapt its questions or settings, open it from Saved Quizzes and create your own editable copy. Your copy can then be edited and used independently without modifying the quiz shared in the Public Content Bank.
Stage 5: Publishing a quiz to the Public Content Bank
Open My Quizzes and locate the quiz you want to share with the Nubric community. Select Share with my peers, and then open General access. Choose Public Content Bank as the quiz's visibility setting.

The quiz becomes available under Content Bank > Public, where other Nubric users can discover, preview, and save it.
Stage 6: Changing where a quiz is shared
To change a quiz's visibility, return to Share with my peers and select a different option under General access:
- Private: The quiz is not shared with other users.
- Share with link: Users with the link can access the quiz.
- Center Content Bank: Members of the active organization can find the quiz under My center.
- Public Content Bank: Nubric users can find the quiz under Public.
A quiz can be published in only one content bank at a time. Changing from Public Content Bank to Center Content Bank removes it from the Public Content Bank and publishes it in the Organization Content Bank instead. Selecting Private or Share with link also removes the quiz from the Public Content Bank.
Content availability
A quiz published in the Public Content Bank remains linked to its original quiz and author. It is removed from the bank if:
- The author deletes the original quiz.
- The author deletes their Nubric account.
Independent copies that other users have already created in their personal workspaces remain available and editable.
Key Rules or Behaviours
- Quizzes published through Public Content Bank are available to the wider Nubric community.
- A quiz can appear in either the Public Content Bank or the Organization Content Bank, but not both simultaneously.
- Personal quizzes are not shared automatically. Their owner must explicitly select Public Content Bank under General access.
- Saving a shared quiz does not make it directly editable. To modify it without affecting the shared quiz, create an independent copy in your personal workspace.
Public Content Bank and Organization Content Bank
Both content banks provide the same workflows for browsing, previewing, saving, and publishing. The difference is who can access the shared content.
| Content bank | Visibility | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| Public Content Bank | Wider Nubric community | Nubric users |
| Organization Content Bank | Members of the active organization only | Premium organizations |
Use the Public Content Bank to make a quiz available to the wider Nubric community. Use the Organization Content Bank for materials intended only for colleagues in your organization.
For more information, see Using the Organization Content Bank.
Examples
Finding a quiz for a lesson
A teacher preparing a lesson on fractions searches the Public Content Bank for "fractions". They preview several quizzes created by other educators and save one to use as a starting point for their class.
Adapting a public quiz
A teacher finds an algebra quiz in the Public Content Bank and saves it to Saved Quizzes. They create an editable copy and adapt some questions to their students' needs. These changes do not affect the publicly shared quiz.
Moving a quiz to the Organization Content Bank
A teacher initially publishes a quiz through Public Content Bank. Later, they changed its visibility to Center Content Bank. The quiz disappears from Public and becomes available under My center to members of the active organization.
Common Misunderstandings
Public quizzes can be edited directly
Saving adds the quiz to Saved Quizzes, but does not make the shared version editable. Create an independent copy before adapting its content.
Changes to a personal copy affect the shared quiz
Personal copies are independent. Editing your copy does not modify the quiz in the Public Content Bank or copies created by other users.
A quiz can be published in both content banks
A quiz can have only one general access setting. Selecting one content bank removes the quiz from the other.
