Understanding the Nubric Workspace

The Nubric workspace is the environment where teachers create, manage, and organize quizzes. It provides the structure that connects the platform's main parts, such as quiz creation, question editing, and content discovery, into a coherent workflow.

Understanding how the workspace is organized helps users navigate the platform more efficiently and locate the tools required to design, review, and distribute quizzes. The following screenshot shows the main areas of the Nubric workspace.

What It Is

The Nubric workspace is the main interface where users interact with the platform. It organizes the tools required to create quizzes, edit questions, explore shared content, and manage teaching materials.

Rather than presenting all features in a single screen, Nubric separates the workflow into different areas. Each area focuses on a specific task, such as managing quizzes or editing questions. This structure helps users move between stages of quiz creation without losing context or organization.

The workspace also reflects the context in which the user is currently working. Depending on the user's account and organization membership, the interface may display an active organization and a PRO indicator. These elements help users identify the organization and plan features currently available to them. 

Why It Matters

Creating and managing educational content often involves multiple steps, including designing questions, verifying grading logic, and sharing activities with students.

The workspace structure supports this process by organizing the platform into clearly defined sections. This reduces complexity and helps teachers focus on the task they are currently performing.

By separating quiz management, question editing, and content discovery into dedicated areas, Nubric makes it easier to:

• Reuse existing materials from other educators.
• Move smoothly from quiz creation to student assignment.

This organization improves usability and supports efficient content creation workflows.

How It Works

The Nubric workspace is organized into several functional areas that correspond to different stages of quiz creation and management.

Stage 1: Accessing the main workspace

When users open Nubric, they enter the main workspace interface. Navigation is provided through a sidebar that gives access to the platform's primary sections, including areas for managing personal quizzes and exploring shared materials.

The workspace also displays the user's current context. If the user belongs to a Nubric organization, the active organization is shown in the interface. Users who can access multiple contexts can use this control to identify or select the context in which they want to work.

Stage 2: Organization management access

Members of a Nubric organization can open My center to view information about the organization and its members. Users with the Admin role also have access to organization management options. From My center, Admins can invite members, assign or change their roles, and remove members from the organization.

The PRO indicator does not determine whether these management options are available. They depend on the user's role within the active organization.

Stage 3: Managing quizzes

The My Quizzes area serves as the main workspace for managing quizzes. From this section, users can:

• Create new quizzes.
• Open existing quizzes for editing.
• Preview quizzes.
• Access quizzes saved from the Content Bank.

This area acts as the central hub for organizing and maintaining quiz content.

Stage 4: Editing quizzes and questions

When a quiz is opened, the interface transitions to the quiz editor. This environment allows users to structure the quiz and manage the list of questions it contains.

Individual questions can then be configured through the question editor, where users define the problem statement, correct answers, evaluation rules, and feedback messages. This layered structure separates quiz organization from question configuration.

Stage 5: Discovering shared content

In addition to managing personal quizzes, the workspace provides access to the Content Bank, where educators can explore quizzes shared by other users.

Quizzes discovered in this section can be previewed, saved, and adapted for use in other courses. This feature supports collaboration and encourages the reuse of existing educational materials.

Key Rules or Behaviours

• Quizzes are managed through the My Quizzes workspace and must be created there before questions can be added.
• The active organization indicates the organizational context currently selected in the workspace.
• The PRO indicator represents access to PRO features. Organization management options depend separately on the user's role.
• Questions are always edited within the context of a quiz. Individual questions cannot exist independently outside a quiz.
• Public quizzes from the Content Bank cannot be edited directly. Users must first save a copy before modifying it.
• The interface separates quiz organization from question configuration to maintain a clear editing workflow.

Examples

Example 1

A teacher creating a new activity first opens the My Quizzes page and selects Create New Quiz. After creating the quiz, they enter the quiz editor where they add several questions and configure the grading logic for each one.

Example 2

A teacher looking for inspiration explores the Content Bank and previews a quiz shared by another educator. After saving it to their workspace, they create an editable copy and modify the questions for their own class.

Common Misunderstandings

The workspace only manages quizzes created by the user

The workspace also provides access to quizzes saved from the Content Bank and materials shared by other educators.

Questions can be created independently and added to quizzes later

In Nubric, questions are created and configured within the context of a specific quiz.
