Nubric: Overview

Nubric is an online platform for creating, reusing, and evaluating interactive math quizzes and practice activities. Teachers can use it directly or through a supported learning platform, individually or as part of an institution.

What It Is

Nubric enables teachers to create, manage, and share interactive math quizzes. It supports mathematical answer evaluation and dynamic questions that use random variables and advanced logic. Teachers can prepare their own content, generate questions with AI, or adapt quizzes shared by other educators.

The platform can be used directly at nubric.com or integrated with Google Classroom and supported learning management systems (LMS). Quizzes can also be printed for use as written activities.

Nubric offers a free Standard teacher plan, an individual PRO teacher plan, and an Organization plan for institutions. These plans provide different usage limits and features, as outlined in the Plans and organizations section below.

Why It Matters

Mathematical assessment often requires more than checking a single numerical result. Depending on the task, students may need to provide an equivalent expression, use a particular mathematical form, include units, or give an approximation within a tolerance. Nubric lets teachers configure these requirements and provide feedback for different responses.

Reusable quizzes and randomized questions help teachers adapt materials across lessons and groups. AI generation and shared content provide additional starting points, while teachers retain control over the content and its evaluation.

How It Works

Create and reuse content

Teachers can start from scratch, generate questions with AI, or discover existing quizzes in the Content Bank. These approaches can be combined: a quiz can contain manually created and AI-generated questions, and shared materials can be edited to suit a different class.

Nubric supports Open Answer and Multiple Choice questions, configurable scoring and feedback, and randomization. Algorithm Mode provides additional control when question generation requires calculations, conditions, or constraints.

Use quizzes with students

Nubric provides several ways to use quizzes, depending on your teaching environment:

• Directly in Nubric: Provide an assignment link for students to complete and submit a quiz. The quiz creator can review submitted attempts, who completed them, and their scores.
• Through a learning platform: Use the Google Classroom or LMS integration supported by your institution. See the following section for details.
• As a printed activity: Prepare a document with space for students' work and an optional answer key. See Print quizzes in Nubric.

Work with your learning platform

Nubric integrates with Google Classroom and with Blackboard, Canvas, and D2L/Brightspace through LTI 1.3.

• Google Classroom: Teachers can work from nubric.com or use the Classroom add-on when supported by their institution's Google plan and configuration. See How Nubric integrates with Google Classroom.
• LMS integrations: Institutions can configure Nubric as an external learning tool. See How Nubric integrates with LTI.

Institutional setup may require a technical administrator to approve access or configure the integration. Administrators can follow Google's Classroom add-on instructions or the installation guide for Blackboard, Canvas, or D2L/Brightspace.

Collaborate with other educators

Teachers can share quizzes through a link or the Public Content Bank. Organizations with a PRO plan also have an Organization Content Bank for materials shared within their institution. Other educators can review shared quizzes and create independent copies to adapt.

Choose an individual or institutional plan

Nubric offers a free Standard teacher plan, an individual PRO teacher plan, and an Organization plan for institutions. Standard teacher includes limited active quizzes and AI question generation, while PRO teacher offers unlimited active quizzes and AI question generation, together with technical support.

Institutions can bring educators together in a Nubric organization through My center, even without a paid institutional plan. Non-premium organizations have open membership and no differentiated roles.

The Organization plan provides all members with PRO teacher features and a private Organization Content Bank. These premium organizations use invitation-only membership and distinguish between Admins, who manage membership and roles, and Teachers, who use the included features.

Key Rules or Behaviours

• Teachers can review and edit questions regardless of how they were created.
• Mathematical evaluation follows the configured answer requirements.
• Randomization can produce different versions without guaranteeing unique values for every student.
• Sharing teaching materials with educators and assigning activities to students are separate workflows.
• Plans, organization membership, and learning platform permissions determine different aspects of access.

Common Misunderstandings

A learning platform integration is required to use Nubric

Teachers can use Nubric directly at nubric.com. Integrations also allow teachers to work with Nubric through their institution's teaching platform.

A paid Organization plan is required to belong to an organization

Teachers can belong to a non-premium organization through My center without a paid institutional plan. The Organization plan adds PRO teacher features for all members, a private Organization Content Bank, invitation-only membership, and Admin and Teacher roles.

An individual PRO teacher plan includes institutional features

An individual PRO teacher plan provides unlimited active quizzes, unlimited AI question generation, and technical support for one teacher. It does not include a private Organization Content Bank or centralized membership and role management; these are included in the Organization plan.
