What are the formulas behind the Concentration Calculator?

                      Reading time: 1min

                      Diluent calculation

                      • [Diluent amount] = [Final Volume] - SUM[Volume of all ingredients]

                      Ingredient amount calculation

All liquid ingredients (except the unit %(w/v))

                      • [Ingredient amount] = [Final concentration] * [Final Volume] / [Initial concentration]

                      Liquid ingredients, unit %(w/v)*

                      • [Ingredient amount] = [Final concentration] * [Final Volume] / 100

                      * This formula is used when you want to measure a liquid ingredient by weight, for example in the case of very viscous components like concentrated glycerol or tween20.

                      Solid ingredients, molar concentration.

                      • [Ingredient amount] = [MW] * [Final concentration] * [Final Volume]

                      Solid ingredients, w/v concentration

                      • [Ingredient amount] = [Final concentration] * [Final Volume]

                      Solid ingredients, % (s) concentration

                      • [Ingredient amount] = [Final concentration] * [Final Volume] / 100
