¹ Locale variants are also supported (for example, ar_sa). If a specific locale is not available, MathType falls back to the corresponding base language.
Language selection
By default, MathType inherits the language of the host application. You can override the default language using the language editor parameter.
See Configure MathType editor parameters for configuration instructions.
Right-to-left languages
MathType automatically enables right-to-left editing behavior for supported RTL languages. This includes:
- Right-to-left user interface layout.
- Mixed left-to-right and right-to-left editing.
- Arabic and Persian numeral support, where applicable.
Arabic support
Arabic (ar) includes additional features beyond interface translation:
- Right-to-left and mixed writing modes.
- Formula mirroring.
- Arabic-Indic and Eastern Arabic-Indic numbering systems.
For more information, see Arabic locale support and Arabic notation features.
Notes
- Language availability may depend on the host application.
-
Locale-specific variants (for example,
es_mxorfr_ca) fall back to the corresponding base language when no dedicated translation is available. - Newly added interface strings may temporarily appear in English until translations are updated.
