Understanding organizations and PRO plans in Nubric

                      Reading time: 4min

Nubric offers different plans for individual teachers and academic institutions. Each plan determines the usage limits, features, and organization management capabilities available to its users.

Understanding how plans and organizations work helps teachers identify the features available to them, and enables institutions to centrally manage access to Nubric.

                      What It Is

Nubric provides three plans designed for different types of users:

                      Standard teacher

It is the free plan for individual teachers. It includes limited active quizzes and AI-generated questions, along with access to Nubric's core quiz-creation features and the Public Content Bank.

                      PRO teacher

It is intended for individual teachers who require unlimited active quizzes and AI-generated questions. It also includes technical support.

                      Organization

It is intended for academic institutions and teaching teams. It includes the benefits of the PRO teacher plan together with centralized member management, restricted access to the institutional environment, support for administrators, and additional institution-specific features.

An organization brings together teachers from the same institution. Each organization member has either the Admin or Teacher role, which determines whether they can manage other members. The following screenshot shows the My center page as viewed by an Admin. From this area, Admins can review organization members, their roles, and their recent activity.

                      Why It Matters

Individual teachers and academic institutions do not always have the same requirements.

The Standard teacher plan provides the essential tools required to start creating quizzes, while the PRO teacher plan removes usage limits for teachers who need to create more content or use AI question generation more frequently.

The Organization plan extends these benefits to teaching teams and provides centralized membership management. This allows institutions to:

                      • Control who can join their Nubric organization.
                      • Provide members with the features included in the institutional plan.
                      • Assign administrative responsibilities to selected members.
                      • Add or remove members as the teaching team changes.
                      • Review the organization's members and their roles.
                      • Provide an institutional environment with restricted access.

This structure provides individual teachers with an appropriate plan for their own use while allowing institutions to manage Nubric access at the organizational level.

                      How It Works

                      Stage 1: Applying a plan

Individual teachers can use Nubric with the Standard teacher or PRO teacher plan. Academic institutions can use the Organization plan to provide Nubric to a managed group of teachers.

The active plan determines the features and usage limits available to the user. For example, the PRO teacher and Organization plans include unlimited active quizzes and unlimited AI-generated questions.

                      Stage 2: Joining an organization

Membership in an organization is controlled through invitations. An Admin enters the teacher's email address, assigns either the Teacher or Admin role, and sends the invitation. The recipient receives the invitation by email. The invitation also appears when the recipient accesses Nubric, where they can accept or decline it.

Accepting the invitation adds the user to the organization with the assigned role. Declining it rejects the invitation, and the user must receive a new invitation if they later want to join. Invitations do not expire.

Stage 3: Working as an organization member

Once an invitation has been accepted, the user can access the organization and see its other members, their roles, and their recent activity.

Members can use Change center to move between the available centers. They can also leave an organization voluntarily through the Leave center option. Leaving or being removed from an organization ends the user's membership in that center.

Stage 4: Managing members and roles

Organization members can have one of two roles:

                      Teachers

They can use the features available through the organization and view its members, but they cannot manage other members.

                      Admins

They have full control over organization membership. They can invite new members, assign roles, change an existing member's role, and remove members from the organization.

An Admin can manage both Teachers and other Admins. This allows administrative responsibilities to be transferred or shared when the organization's needs change.

                      Key Rules or Behaviours

                      • The Standard teacher and PRO teacher plans are for individual users, while the Organization plan is designed for institutions and teaching teams.
                      • PRO teacher and Organization plans include unlimited active quizzes and unlimited AI question generation.
                      • Joining an organization requires an invitation from an Admin.
                      • An invitation assigns the recipient either the Teacher or Admin role. Invitations do not expire.
                      • Teachers can view organization members but cannot manage them.
                      • Admins can invite members, change their roles, and remove them from the organization. They can also change another Admin's role or remove them.
                      • Any organization member can leave voluntarily by selecting Leave center.
                      • Users who have access to multiple centers can move between them using Change center.
                      • Belonging to a Nubric organization is separate from having Nubric deployed through an institutional platform such as Google Workspace or an LMS.

                      Examples

                      Example 1

An individual teacher begins using Nubric with the Standard teacher plan. As they use quizzes and AI-generated questions more, they move to the PRO teacher plan to access these features without usage limits.

This change affects the features available to the teacher but does not create or manage an institutional organization.

                      Example 2

A school uses the Organization plan and invites its teachers to join its Nubric organization. Most members receive the Teacher role, while selected staff members receive the Admin role so they can manage access.

If an existing Admin changes responsibilities, another Admin can change their role to Teacher or remove them from the organization.

                      Common Misunderstandings

A PRO teacher account and an Organization plan are the same

The PRO teacher plan is designed for an individual teacher. The Organization plan includes PRO-level benefits for an institution's members, together with centralized access, role, and membership management.

Deploying Nubric institutionally automatically adds teachers to a Nubric organization

Deploying Nubric through Google Workspace or an LMS makes the application available through that platform. It does not automatically make users members of a Nubric organization. Organization membership is managed separately through invitations.

Teachers can manage other organization members

Teachers can view their organization's members, but only Admins can invite members, change roles, or remove members.

Finding or selecting an organization is enough to join it

Access to an organization is restricted. A user must receive and accept an invitation before becoming a member.
