Summary
MathType includes several features designed specifically for Arabic mathematical notation, including right-to-left editing, numeral selection, ligatures, and accessible output.
These features are automatically enabled when appropriate for the selected language or locale.

- RTL: Right-to-left text and formula layout.
- Arabic-European numerals: Standard digits (1234...).
- Arabic-Indic numerals: Arabic numeral symbols (١٢٣٤...).
- Ligatures: Connected Arabic character combinations used in mathematical notation.
Features
Text direction
Users can manually switch the direction of mathematical expressions using the text direction controls available in the MathType toolbar.

Arabic ligatures
By default, MathType treats characters as individual mathematical variables. Certain common Arabic words automatically use ligatures. Additional ligatures can be inserted manually using the Arabic ligature button available in the toolbar.
