                      Arabic locale support

                      Reading time: 1min

                      Reference for the locale-specific behavior of Arabic mathematical notation in MathType.

                      Summary

                      MathType automatically adapts mathematical notation according to the configured Arabic locale. Depending on the locale, formulas may be mirrored and different numeral systems may be used by default.

                      Use this reference to understand the default behavior associated with each supported Arabic locale.

                      Default behaviour

                      For the generic Arabic locale (ar), MathType uses:

                      • Right-to-left formula layout;
                      • Arabic-European numerals.

                      Some regional locales override these defaults.

                      Supported Arabic locales

                      The following table shows the default MathType behavior for each supported Arabic locale.
