Features list of MathType integrations
MathType 7 integrations are the integration of MathType 7 with Google Docs, Microsoft Word online, and Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Moodle, Canvas & Schoology. A specific integration for Microsoft Word desktop is available as part of a MathType 7 Desktop license. For software developers and administrators, the integration in other products can be done using MathType integrations and MathType SDK.
Great quality optimized for the digital media (screen):
Scalable formulas.
Professional formulas.
Get the best quality possible equations and formulas in your application. Forget about the clunky default solution that most platforms offer. With MathType 7 you will get high resolution and the best typesetting possible for your formulas. Type math formulas like a pro!
Publication-quality equations
You may be writing lab notes or lesson plans that no one will see but you. You may be writing textbooks or technical manuals that will be read by thousands. Either way, MathType 7 is the only tool you'll need for great-looking math content any time, anywhere. MathType 7 features Automatic spacing that conforms to international mathematics typesetting conventions. Everything is spaced and sized in accordance with accepted typesetting standards.
Great formula coverage
A complete and mature equation editor.
Covers most of the MathML & LaTeX standards.
Matrices, big operators, stretchy arrows,…
Largest set of symbols: Greek, operators, relationals,…
Covers from elementary to college and professional. Algebra, statistics, analysis are covered.
Use the most complete and mature equation editor. From basic arithmetic to advanced calculus and beyond, you will be able to write any desired equation or formula. Covers most of the MathML and most used LaTeX standards. Insert any symbol or character available in your system or provided by MathType 7 itself.
Styling and fonts
Whether you like Times New Roman, Arial or math classic style, MathType 7 is the solution for you. Choose from a predefined list of fonts.
Change color and size.
Format and align matrices and tables.
Handwriting
Handwrite formulas.
Default in touch devices.
Make corrections to parts of the formula.
The handwriting feature allows writing formulas quickly, just tracing them like you were using paper and pencil. It’s the quickest and default way to input formulas in iOS and Android devices. Use gestures to remove and correct parts of the handwritten formula.
Easy install
Easy to install and uninstall
Find it in the native store of the Web platform
MathType 7 in LMS might already be installed in your platform.
Enable MathType 7 in Google Docs and Word Online using the respective add-on and add-in stores because MathType 7 is a trusted and verified component.
For LMS platforms, MathType 7 is available as a Moodle plugin or Canvas and Schoology app. Quite often, your teacher or administrator will have MathType 7 already enabled for you.
Arabic (RTL)
Arabic RTL formulas.
Mix RTL and LTR.
You can configure the default Arabic numbers that will be used and whether to mirror math formulas or not.
RTL text is detected automatically. RTL formulas with a simple click in the toolbar.
MathType 7 integrations target the mathematical notation for right-to-left (RTL) languages like Arabic, Hebrew, and Persian. Mirrored Latin symbols are used in Arabic and Persian mathematical notation when RTL formulas are edited. It is possible to mix RTL and left-to-right (LTR) content in the same formula, which is especially important for Hebrew. RTL text is detected automatically and RTL formulas are enabled by just a simple click in the toolbar.
Chemistry: ChemType
Type (unidimensional) chemistry formulas.
A customized toolbar for chemistry.
Non italicized chemical elements.
Includes textual version for accessibility.
Type one-dimensional chemistry formulas, mostly non-organic, with the so designed flavor of MathType 7 called ChemType and available in all platforms. A tab in the toolbar was specifically arranged to the needs of the chemistry users. The editing user experience is also different under the chemistry mode because variables, which usually represent chemistry elements, are non italicized and its textual version, used for accessibility, is the translation from the symbol (abbreviation) to the full name. For example, Na will be read aloud as Sodium.
Accessibility
Formula editing is fully accessible.
Edit using solely the keyboard or screen reader.
Formulas are also accessible.
Accessibility is the capability of an application or content to be used by people who experience disabilities. MathType 7 is fully accessible when editing equations and formulas because it has different input modes like keyboard-only or using a screen reader, completely usable without the help of any visual hint. Content created with MathType 7 is also accessible since any formula contains its textual representation, which is available in many languages.
LaTeX
Input method for LaTeX.
LaTeX is a quick way to input math.
Type LaTeX directly into Moodle.
Since we are aware that experienced authors in LaTeX are very fast when writing mathematics, MathType 7 allows typing LaTeX by opening a dedicated panel. Press Ctrl+Shift+L to open the panel.
With MathType 7 app for Moodle, the user experience is even better: you can type LaTeX directly into the text editor using the $$ notation and LaTeX will be converted to formulas when the content is finally delivered. This means you do not need to open the MathType 7 interface when writing LaTeX.
Math standards, formats, and compatibility
For Microsoft Word Online
The output are the Word native formulas (OMML).
Formulas are stored within the document.
Formulas can be re-edited with Microsoft Word on mobile devices or computers.
For integration in Google Docs and LMS (Moodle, Canvas, Schoology,…):
Uses native MathML.
Formulas are stored within the document, not in external servers.
Copy and paste formulas; works with other software.
MathType 7 integrations are designed to get the best of the platform where they are integrated. Following this principle, the integration in Microsoft Word outputs native Office formulas. This means that such formulas are stored within the document and are fully compatible with Office built-in equation in Word.
For MathType 7 app other than Word, formulas are stored internally in MathML inside the document and displayed as images: SVG or high-resolution PNG. Thus, you always own the formulas! Once the formula is being edited by MathType 7 you can copy and paste it to/from any other software that accepts MathML.
Productivity and UX
Formula templates and symbols are available in a well-organized toolbar.
Create formulas just by clicking the toolbar icon, then accept it. No need to exit from your app.
Functions.
Copy/paste and shortcuts.
Contextual menu.
MathType 7 integrations exist to be the most productive tool for writing mathematics when integrated in the different Web platforms. Easily open MathType 7 dialog with a simple click and build your formula using the templates and symbols from a well-organized toolbar. Upon accepting the dialog, a high-resolution formula will appear inline with your text.
There are many features that allow you to be more productive, such as the use of handwriting in touch-enabled devices, the copy and paste of formulas from any MathML compatible software, the automatic recognition of functions (which are not italicized), the shortcuts for the most common formula templates, the use of LaTeX, and much more…
A contextual menu dynamically changes with the features that apply to the current position of the cursor. For example, easily change the styling of the open and close brackets with regular, square, curly brackets, angle, etc.
Integration in apps
Text editors: Google Docs, Microsoft Word (PC, Mac, and iOS).
LMS: Moodle, Canvas, and Schoology.
MathType 7 integrations integrate with Google Docs and Microsoft Word. For Google Docs, the integration works both on the computer and on the Android app. For Word, it works on the online version, the desktop version, and the iOS and Android apps.
MathType 7 integrations also integrate into Learning Management Systems like Moodle, Canvas, and Schoology.
Image formats
Formulas are displayed in high-resolution PNGs for Google Docs
Formulas are displayed in SVG which provides high quality and scalable formulas.
Equations and formulas are displayed using the best image format available in each platform. SVG is preferred in most integrations because is when the maximum quality is obtained. Since Google Docs does not accept SVG, a high-resolution PNG image is used instead. For Microsoft Word online, the rendering is held completely by Microsoft Office because formulas are Office native.
Internationalization
Available in several (currently 32) languages.
RTL features and Arabic notation.
