Try the new MathType for HTML Editors

We are introducing a new MathType editor experience for HTML integrations.

The new editor offers a cleaner, more modern interface that makes MathType easier and more accessible to use today, while creating the foundation for future improvements. You can try it voluntarily while continuing to use the current MathType editor as needed.

What's new

The new MathType editor has been redesigned to make equation editing feel simpler, clearer, and more accessible. This first version focuses mainly on the editing experience and interface. Future updates will continue expanding its capabilities.

What changes

• A redesigned MathType editor experience.
• A cleaner toolbar and editing area.
• A more modern way to create and edit math expressions.
• A foundation for future MathType improvements.

What does not change

When updating to the new editor:

• Existing expressions remain editable.
• The current MathType editor remains available when needed.
• Your HTML integration continues to work.
• No additional license or subscription is required.

How to get it

The new MathType for HTML is being rolled out gradually, but it can also be enabled upon request if you'd like early access.

If you would like to try the new MathType editor:

1. Contact our Sales team and tell us which HTML editor you are using (e.g., CKEditor 5), and briefly describe your use case.
2. Our team will review your request to understand whether the current capabilities of the new MathType editor are a good fit for your use case. If it is a good fit, we will provide the necessary files, documentation, and support to help you set it up in your environment.

Try the new editor if you want to start using the future MathType editing experience, and your workflow does not depend on advanced editing options. If you need those options, we recommend keeping the current editor available for now.

Current status

HTML Editor compatibility

The table below shows the current status of the new MathType across our supported HTML editors. 

Expression compatibility

Expressions created with the new MathType are compatible with the current MathType experience.

When you open an existing expression with the new MathType, the editor detects whether the expression is compatible. If the expression requires a feature that is not yet supported by the new MathType, you are automatically redirected to the current MathType experience.

This allows you to try the new editor without losing access to expressions that require the current MathType. 

ChemType experience

Even when the new modern MathType editor is enabled, ChemType continues to use the current editor.

Language support

At the moment, only English is fully supported. If you need another language, please contact our support team and let us know which language you would like to use. We are working to expand language support in upcoming releases.
