Reading time: 1minIt’s common for teachers to ask students to explain how they arrived at an answer in math or science. Even in automatically graded questions, it can be helpful to collect students’ reasoning—for example, to manually adjust a grade later or respond to student queries. Beyond grading, this also supports formative assessment by giving insight into the student’s thinking process.
For instance, you can add a text editor to a question to let students justify their answers.
