                      • Percentages and per mille

                      Example

                      Reading time: 1min

                      Consider the following question:

To make percentages and per miles a valid notation, we need to enable the per cent symbol within the Input options > Input syntax section.

On the other hand, the symbol per cent (%) must be typed with the keyboard, while the symbol per mille (‰) has a button in the answer toolbar. If you expect the students to answer per mille, you must provide the MathType toolbar.

                      Note

Alternatively, you can provide that symbol in the question wording for them to copy & paste. They can also use the combo ALT+0137 (numeric keypad).

These symbols are similar to physical units:

                      • You can do basic arithmetic with them and also convert() them.
                      • You can make an algorithm with these symbols, and CalcMe will translate it as percent and permille.
