                      Using the Public Content Bank

                      Reading time: 2min

The Public Content Bank is a shared library where teachers can discover quizzes created by other educators using LearningLemur. It allows users to browse public quizzes, explore ideas for exercises, and save quizzes they want to reuse or adapt for their own teaching.

By providing access to community-created materials, the Content Bank helps teachers save time and find inspiration for new quizzes.

                      What It Is

The Public Content Bank is a repository of quizzes that teachers have chosen to share publicly with the LearningLemur community.

Instead of starting from scratch, teachers can explore quizzes created by others and reuse them as inspiration or starting points for their own materials. Within the Content Bank, users can:

                      • Browse public quizzes created by other educators.
                      • Search quizzes by keyword.
                      • Filter quizzes by language.
                      • Preview quiz content.
                      • Save quizzes to their personal workspace.

Saved quizzes appear in the Saved Quizzes section of the My Quizzes page.

The Public Content Bank allows teachers to discover quizzes shared by other educators

                      Why It Matters

Creating high-quality math exercises can take time, especially when questions involve formulas, structured answers, or randomization.

The Public Content Bank reduces this effort by allowing teachers to explore existing quizzes created by the community. Instead of designing every question from scratch, teachers can reuse or adapt quizzes that already cover similar topics.

This encourages collaboration between educators and helps teachers quickly build a collection of reusable materials.

                      How It Works

The Content Bank provides tools for discovering and saving public quizzes.

                      Stage 1: Browsing quizzes.
Users can open the Content Bank to view a list of publicly shared quizzes created by other educators. Each quiz entry typically includes information such as:

                      • Quiz title.
                      • Topic or subject.
                      • Language.

                      Stage 2: Searching and filtering.
To help users find relevant materials, the Content Bank includes filtering tools. Teachers can narrow down results by:

                      • Keyword search.
                      • Language filters.

These tools help users quickly locate quizzes related to specific topics or teaching contexts.

                      Stage 3: Saving quizzes.
When a teacher finds a quiz they want to reuse, they can save it to their workspace. Saved quizzes are added to the Saved Quizzes section of the My Quizzes page.

                      From there, teachers can:

                      • Preview the quiz.
                      • Create an editable copy.
                      • Adapt the content to their needs.

                      Stage 4: Publishing quizzes.
Teachers can also contribute their own materials to the Content Bank by sharing a publicly accessible quiz.

To publish a quiz, go back to the My Quizzes section and find the quiz you want to share. Enable the Share with my peers option and then change the General Access visibility setting from Private to Content bank.

Share quiz to the content bank modal

Once published, the quiz becomes visible in the Public Content Bank and can be discovered by other educators. Sharing quizzes helps expand the collection of community-created materials and allows teachers to collaborate by exchanging teaching resources.

                      Key Rules or Behaviours

                      • Quizzes in the Content Bank are shared publicly by other LearningLemur users
                      • Saving a quiz does not modify the original quiz in the Content Bank
                      • To edit a quiz from the Content Bank, a user must create a copy of the quiz
                      • Saved quizzes appear in the Saved Quizzes section of the My Quizzes page
                      • Teachers can publish their own quizzes to the Content Bank by setting the quiz visibility to Content Bank

                      Examples

                      Example 1:
A teacher preparing a lesson on fractions searches the Content Bank for “fractions”. They find several quizzes created by other educators and save one to their workspace to adapt for their class.

                      Example 2:
A teacher exploring ideas for algebra exercises browses the Content Bank and previews different quizzes to see how other educators structure their questions.

                      Common Misunderstandings

Misconception: Saving a quiz from the Content Bank makes it editable immediately.
Clarification: The original quiz remains unchanged. To edit it, you must create a copy.

Misconception: Only LearningLemur staff can publish quizzes in the Content Bank.
Clarification: Any user can publish quizzes to the Content Bank by enabling Share with my peers and setting the quiz visibility to Content Bank.
