Install LearningLemur in Blackboard via LTI

                        Reading time: 2min

When to use this: Use this guide if you want to integrate LearningLemur with Blackboard using LTI 1.3 / LTI Advantage, so instructors can launch quizzes directly from Blackboard courses.

What you'll achieve: You will register LearningLemur as an LTI 1.3 tool in Blackboard and verify that instructors can launch it when creating assignments.

                        Before you begin

                        Requirements

                        • Blackboard Administrator access
                        • Familiarity with Blackboard administration
                        • Basic understanding of LTI 1.3 concepts
                        • Access to the LearningLemur LTI configuration details
                        • The LearningLemur Client ID: c5283352-99cf-44cb-8c87-5c0fba8a7a0e

You must also be able to authorize data sharing between Blackboard and external tools (such as user identity and course context).

                        Steps

                        Open the Blackboard Admin area

                        1. Log in to Blackboard as an administrator
                        2. From the main navigation, go to Admin

                        Open LTI Tool Providers

                        1. In the Admin panel, locate Integrations
                        2. Click LTI Tool Providers

                        Register the LTI tool

                        • Click Register LTI 1.3 / Advantage Tool
                        • Enter the LearningLemur Client ID: c5283352-99cf-44cb-8c87-5c0fba8a7a0e
                        • Continue to the next screen

Blackboard automatically populates several configuration fields based on the Client ID.

                        Review the tool configuration

                        1. Review the auto-populated values
                        2. Confirm the Tool Name is recognizable (for example, LearningLemur)
                        3. Ensure the tool is available to the appropriate contexts (such as courses or organizations)
                        4. Adjust naming or visibility to match your institution's configuration standards

                        Enable required services

Enable the services required for the integration to work correctly.

                        Allow access to:

                        • User data (name and email, depending on institutional policy)
                        • Course and membership context
                        • Assignments and Grades service (if you want grades returned to Blackboard)

                        Then:

                        • Locate the Status setting for the tool
                        • Change the status to Approved

                        Options and variations

                        • If your institution does not use Blackboard, you can integrate LearningLemur with other LMS platforms that support LTI 1.3, such as Canvas or D2L/Brightspace
