Using LearningLemur within Canvas
Reading time: 1minThis guide explains how to install LearningLemur as an LTI 1.3 tool using Dynamic Registration, and then complete the installation by adding the app using the generated Client ID. After installation, educators can use LearningLemur as an External Tool to create and assign quizzes.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure you have:
- Canvas Admin permissions for the target account
- The Dynamic Registration URL provided by LearningLemur / Wiris
Step-by-step installation
1) Open Apps in the Canvas Admin area
Log in to Canvas as an administrator.
Go to Admin and select the account where you want to install the tool.
Open Apps.


2) Start the installation (Dynamic Registration)
Click Install New App.
For configuration type, select:
- LTI 1.3
- Dynamic Registration
- Paste the Dynamic Registration URL provided by LearningLemur / Wiris.
Review the details shown by Canvas (tool name, configuration fields, etc.).
Click Next and then Install to complete this first installation step.



3) Copy the generated Client ID
After installation, return to Apps.
Locate the newly installed LearningLemur app.
Open the app options (three dots / right-side menu, depending on your Canvas UI).
Select the option to Copy Client ID (or view the details and copy the Client ID shown).
You will use this Client ID in the next step.

4) Add the app using the Client ID
Still in Apps, click Install New App again.
Choose the option By Client ID.
Paste the Client ID you copied in the previous step.
Click Submit to complete the installation.


5) Verify usage in courses
Once installed, instructors can:
Go to a Canvas course.
Create an assignment or activity and select External Tool.
Choose LearningLemur from the list of external tools.
Launch LearningLemur and create the quiz.
