Install the Learning Lemur Add-on for Google Classroom
Reading time: 2minIf your institution does not support Google Classroom add-ons, you can still use Learning Lemur via learninglemur.com. You can check what you need to use add-ons in Google Classroom here. If this is your cae, please take a look at Assign Learning Lemur quizzes through Google Classroom (without the add-on).
Outcome: By the end of this tutorial, you will have installed the Learning Lemur add-on in Google Classroom and verified that it is available when creating assignments.
Before you begin
Prerequisites
- You are familiar with Google Classroom and how to create assignments
- You understand what Learning Lemur is and how quizzes work at a basic level
Requirements
- A Google account with a Teacher role in Google Classroom
- A Google for Education plan that supports Classroom add-ons (see Google's official documentation for details)
- Permission to install add-ons (or approval from your Google Workspace administrator)
Step 1 — Check if your institution supports add-ons
Why: Learning Lemur add-ons are only available for specific Google for Education paid plans.
- Confirm that your institution uses a supported Google for Education plan
- If you are unsure, contact your Google Workspace administrator
- Review Google's official documentation about Classroom add-ons if needed
Checkpoint: You have confirmed that your Google account is eligible to install Classroom add-ons.
Step 2 — Install the add-on from Google Classroom
Why: Installing from inside Google Classroom allows you to immediately use the add-on in your assignment workflow.
- Open Google Classroom
- Start creating a new assignment
- Click the Add-ons button (puzzle piece icon)
- Search for Learning Lemur
- Click Install and follow the authorization prompts
Expected observation: Google may ask you to grant permissions.
Checkpoint: You see Learning Lemur listed as an available add-on in the assignment editor.
Alternative Step 2 — Install from Google Workspace Marketplace
Why: Installing from the Marketplace allows centralized installation outside the assignment flow.
- Go to the Google Workspace Marketplace
- Search for Learning Lemur
- Click Install
- Complete the authorization process
Expected observation: Installation confirmation appears.
Checkpoint: When you open a new assignment in Google Classroom, Learning Lemur appears under Add-ons.
Step 3 — Verify the add-on inside an assignment
Why: Verifying ensures the installation was successful and the add-on is ready to use.
- Open Google Classroom
- Create or edit an assignment
- Click the Add-ons icon
- Select Learning Lemur
Expected observation: The Learning Lemur interface opens inside Google Classroom.
Checkpoint: You can create or attach a quiz without leaving Google Classroom.

Troubleshooting
If you don't see the Add-ons icon
Your Google plan may not support Classroom add-ons, or your admin may have disabled them.
Learning Lemur does not appear in search results
Confirm your Google Workspace administrator has allowed Marketplace installations.
Authorization fails
Log out and log back in to your Google account, then try again.
