Creating and saving a CalcMe session

                        Reading time: 2min

                        Creating a CalcMe session

To create a CalcMe session, you need to go to https://calcme.com from your browser, and a blank session will be opened.

If you want to see in detail how it is structured, take a look at the section dedicated to its user interface.

In the top bar, you can see the title of the document and the different created sheets. If you want to save the session, this will have the title's name that we have given to the document, so remember to change it, especially if you have to submit it!

Similarly, it's also possible to add, rename and reorder sheets once created. It can be beneficial for organizing your work.

Once the session is created, you can perform a wide range of complex mathematical calculations autonomously, fast, and intuitively. Apart from the various instructions you set, you can add comments to make it easier to understand. Simply use the Text action or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+C.

Regarding content storage, CalcMe uses online storage via Google Drive by default, but you can also upload and save sessions to your device (desktops, laptops, etc.).

                        Online saving

To save online, just press File > Save and click the To Google Drive button:

When you save a session for the first time, you'll be prompted to log in and give CalcMe permission to associate with your Google Drive. Probably, you will receive an email from Google reporting the assigned permissions.

Once you are logged in, you can see your profile photo in the title bar, shown at right.

In sessions you open from Google Drive, you can choose to go to CalcMe automatically. In Google Drive, go to Settings > Managing apps, and tick Use by default next to CalcMe

Creating new CalcMe files from Google Drive

Additionally, once you've associated CalcMe to your Google Drive through the above steps, you will be able to open new CalcMe files directly from Google Drive. To do that, go to New in the top left corner, then More > CalcMe:

                        Offline saving

To save sessions offline (directly to your device), click on File > Save and choose the option To Device:

This downloads a CalcMe session file, which you can then open again with the Open > From Device button in the same drop-down menu.

On the other hand, you can also download the sessions in PDF format for delivery and viewing without opening the tool itself. The only limitation is that you will not be able to reopen the algorithm later if you have not saved it in any of the other formats as well. In the same drop-down menu, click Download as PDF.

                        Accessing CalcMe documentation

Apart from this UOC student-specific beginner's guide, there is extensive documentation of the tool you can visit here. It's divided into eight blocks:
