Notes

Wiris Quizzes is a web application that allows teachers to create questions, and it allows students to answer and to receive automatic evaluation and feedback. Wiris Quizzes is not a questionnaire authoring tool, its question types must be integrated in a third-party questionnaire tool as new question types.

Wiris Quizzes is a ready-to-use integration for Moodle and Canvas LMS. Both Moodle and Canvas are implemented following WCAG guidelines and Wiris Quizzes is integrated following the same accessibility criteria. Thanks to LTI technology, both Moodle and Canvas use the same interface for Wiris Quizzes integration.

Wiris Quizzes as a web-based application has these main features:

Wiris Quizzes for students

  • Answering questions created with Wiris Quizzes and receiving automatic evaluation and feedback to them.
This report only covers accessibility for Moodle and Canvas integrations. Any other integration is responsibility of the integrator.
Only Moodle interface is used for answering Wiris Quizzes questions, as Canvas uses LTI technology.

Wiris Quizzes for teachers

  • Creating/Editing Wiris Quizzes questions
This report only covers accessibility for Moodle and Canvas integrations when creating/editing Wiris Quizzes questions. Any other integration is responsibility of the integrator.
Only Moodle interface is used for editing Wiris Quizzes questions, as Canvas uses LTI technology.
  • Adding mathematical content to questions
All mathematical content in a WIRIS question type is handled from Wiris Quizzes Studio. Studio interface doesn’t depend on integrations.

When creating or answering questions, MathType Web editor and CalcMe can also be used. You can find their VPAT reports here <Coming Soon> and here <Coming Soon>.

Note that CAS is the current calculator integrated in Wiris Quizzes. In short CAS calculator will be replaced by CalcMe calculator, an up-to-date app which clearly improves CAS accessibility features. Currently, CalcMe is integrated in Wiris Quizzes as a beta version. You can find CalcMe VPAT here <Coming Soon>.

Wiris Quizzes for admins

  • Setting-up Wiris Quizzes
This report only covers accessibility for Moodle and Canvas integrations when setting-up Wiris Quizzes. Any other integration is responsibility of the integrator.

Moodle interface is used when setting-up Wiris Quizzes in Moodle.

Canvas interface is used when setting-up Wiris Quizzes in Canvas.

Wiris Quizzes as an authoring tool generates these products

  • Questions created in Moodle and Canvas integrations, and its automatic evaluation and feedback. These questions and feedback can include MathType Web equation images, CalcMe embedded sessions and CalcMe graphical images.

You can read about CalcMe embedded sessions in CalcMe VPAT report <Coming Soon>.

A third-party editor is used to edit the text for Wiris Quizzes questions. Accessibility features applicable to text are responsibility of these text editors. For Moodle and Canvas Wiris Quizzes is integrated in TinyMCE or Atto, and both implement WAI-ARIA specification to support accessibility WCAG guidelines.

In order to ease the reading of this report, each cell in the column "Conformance Level" and "Remarks and Explanations" is divided in two rows, corresponding to applicable requirements scopes "Web" and "Authoring tool". Note "web" mainly addresses features for teachers, and "authoring tool" mainly addresses features for students. For third applicable scope, "Support Documentation", you can find MathType Support Documentation VPAT at docs.wiris.com.

Requirements related to "Software", "Closed Functionality Software", "non-web document" or "Product Docs" don't apply because Wiris Quizzes is a web-based application, it is not closed functionality software, and all its documentation is web.

Evaluation methods used

Visual inspection using assistive technologies. Testing is based on general product knowledge.

For each of the standards, the criteria are listed by chapter in a table. The structures of the tables are: the first column contains the criteria being evaluated, the second column describes the level of conformance of the product regarding the criteria and the third column contains any additional remarks and explanations regarding the product.

  • When sections of criteria do not apply, or deemed by the customer as not applicable, the section is noted as such and the rest of that table may be removed for that section.
  • When multiple standards are being recorded in this document, the duplicative sections are noted and responded to only one time. The duplicate entry will note the cross reference to the data.

This report covers the degree of conformance for the following accessibility standard/guidelines:

  • Does Not Support: The majority of product functionality does not meet the criterion.
  • Not Applicable: The criterion is not relevant to the product.
  • Not Evaluated: The product has not been evaluated against the criterion. This can be used only in WCAG 2.0 Level AAA.
