Returns a random number. One can specify the seed using random_seed(Integer).

random()

Returns a random number in the interval left parenthesis 0 comma 1 right parenthesis.

random(Integer)

Given an integer n, returns a random integer number in the interval left square bracket 0 comma n right parenthesis (if n is positive) or left parenthesis n comma 0 right square bracket (if n is negative).

random(Real)

Given a real x, returns a random real number in the interval left square bracket 0 comma x right parenthesis (if x is positive) or left parenthesis x comma 0 right square bracket (if x is negative).

random(Integer, Integer)

Given two integers numbers a and b, returns a random integer in the interval left square bracket a comma b right square bracket.

random(Real, Real)

Given two real numbers a and b, returns a random real number in the interval left square bracket a comma b right square bracket.
